Fujinon will be presenting a new zoom lens for the 4K broadcast sector (Sport & Co) at the autumn trade fairs. The UA46x9.5BERD for 2/3" cameras offers a (according to the manufacturer best in class) 46x optical zoom and covers the focal length from 9.5mm to 437mm. This can be doubled as usual via an integrated 2x extender.
When zooming, the lens should be able to keep its sharpness throughout; the close-up limit is 2.8m. A newly developed motor drive for zoom, focus and iris control is installed, as well as a new mechanism for minimizing vibrations, based on a "ceramic ball roller system": "Using precision formed ceramic balls for the drive section reduces frictional resistance when preventing vibration to the greatest extent possible and accurately corrects image blurring caused by wind or vibrations without time lag".
As with other Fujinon lenses, an in-house multi-coating (HT-EBC) should ensure HDR-compliant, high light transmission and colour rendering. The FUJINON UA46x9.5BERD (UA46×9.5) weighs 5.7Kg and should be available in January 2019. In spring another FUJINON lens with 46x zoom, but with the initial focal length of 13.5mm (FUJINON UA46x13.5BERD).
