The results of the new Deep Learning Algorithm Photo Wake-Up are reminiscent of the magical images in Harry Potter, because it brings figures from pictures or photos to life via 3D animation. Using Augmented Reality or VR, the figure can even emerge from the image in three dimensions and meet the viewer. The method requires only a single image in order to cut characters - whether realistic or abstract - out of the environment and animate them relatively realistically. Prerequisite: the whole character must be visible from head to toe from the front. A special challenge is the posture: for a realistic animation the position of the figure in space has to be revealed from a 2D image, even if one body part covers another - the new method can do this quite well, at least if not too much is covered by the body. The algorithm first maps the limb of the human body onto the figure in the image and projects the figure onto a 3D mesh. The mesh can then be animated to bring the photo or painting to life. In addition to the complex animation, the algorithm also performs a further task - the figure can walk, jump or wave (if desired also interactively) - and the empty background at the point where the figure was visible in the image must be extrapolated and filled. There are no limits to your imagination if you imagine how the method will be used in the future - then poured into an app. V°Y=G63goXc5MyU Bild zur Newsmeldung: deutsche Version dieser Seite: AI erweckt Bilder zum Leben |
