After about 10 years, ARRI has surprisingly announced a new 65mm camera: The ALEXA 265 is significantly smaller and is now based on the housing of the much more compact ALEXA 35. Although its sensor is three times as large, the ALEXA 265 is only four millimeters longer and eleven millimeters wider than the ALEXA 35. The new housing design also reduces the weight of the ALEXA 65 from 10.5 kg to just 3.3 kg. ARRI ALEXA 265 - 65mm film production now more compact and lighter The 65mm sensor has been redesigned and is now said to offer significantly better image quality: ARRI now speaks of 15 (instead of the previous >14) f-stops of dynamic range. In addition, much of the new camera has been taken over from the ARRI ALEXA 35: In addition to the LogC4 workflow and the REVEAL Color Science, all accessories are said to be compatible. Since ARRI is silent on this in its press release, it is obvious that the improved 13/18 bit recording of the ALEXA 35 is not used in the ALEXA 265. This is probably also due to the fact that the sensor of the ALEXA35 can record 17 f-stops on paper, for which the 12/16-bit ARRIRAW format is no longer sufficient. ARRI ALEXA 265 - 65mm film production now more compact and lighter The new ARRI A3X CMOS sensor has the same open gate resolution (6560 x 3100, 54.12 x 25.58 mm) and pixel pitch of 8.25 μm as its predecessor, which is why the new image converter is once again made up of three ARRI ALEV sensors. In addition to the gain of one f-stop, the new B-revision offers improved sensitivity from 3200 to 6400 EI (ISO/ASA) and is said to offer crisper blacks, greater contrast and lower background noise. ARRI ALEXA 265 - New filter cassette slot A truly new and unique ARRI feature of the new camera is the filter cassette system, which allows special filter holders encased in a protective cassette to be slid in front of the sensor. With the launch of the ALEXA 265, ARRI FSND filters will be available, with single steps from 0 to ND2.7. Many more creative filter options are in the works. An encrypted chip in the filter holder transmits information about the filters used. The information is displayed on the user interface and also stored in the camera&s metadata. ARRI ALEXA 265 The ALEXA 265 will soon be available for productions (from the beginning of 2025). In other words, initially only in rental. ARRI is therefore not announcing a purchase price for the ALEXA 265. more infos at bei www.arrirental.com deutsche Version dieser Seite: ARRI ALEXA 265 - 65mm-Filmproduktion jetzt kompakter und leichter |
