After Sora, Veo, Minmax and the like, many users have been eagerly awaiting Adobe&s first steps in generative video AI. Now Adobe is opening its previously closed beta access AI gates and releasing Firefly for video (in an open beta version).
![]() Also very pragmatically conceived is the possibility of using a start and/or end frame. This allows clips to be "extended" from still images from Firefly. In a pre-release demo for the press, Adobe did not show photorealistic material of moving people, which is why we expect Adobe to be somewhat behind the current top models here. Adobe emphasizes the legal certainty when using Firefly – which is handled somewhat more loosely by the competition. What, according to Adobe, already works almost perfectly is its use as a generative VFX tool to integrate smoke, particles, fire or water into a clip. Adobe also shows how it envisions working with Firefly in the future. For a film, one can go from sketched individual images via various AI tools to individual scene images, which then serve as a kind of storyboard basis for production. From these images, Firefly then generates the scenes with corresponding intermediate images. Those who want to personally try out the capabilities of Firefly video can already do so in the beta version of Premiere Pro. The current Firefly models are already available there via the function ("Generative Extend"). However, there are (still?) no design options using prompts and seeds, as in the now presented web interface of Firefly Video. With the beta release, Adobe has also revealed its pricing for generative video clips. Adobe Firefly Standard costs €109.99/year incl. VAT as an early bird price until March 15, 2025. This gives you 2,000 monthly generative credits for video and audio, which corresponds to up to 20 5-second videos. At the same time, you also get unlimited access to standard image and vector functions such as text-to-image, generative fill and more. 100GB of cloud storage is also included in this price. Those who choose Adobe Firefly Pro for €32.99/month (for early birds until March 15) get 7,000 monthly generative credits for video and audio and also 100 GB of cloud storage. This corresponds to up to 70 5-second videos. Roughly speaking, a 5-second clip costs about 50 cents per 5-second 1080p clip with Adobe Firefly Video. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Adobe Firefly – Jetzt mit eigenem KI-Videomodell in offener Beta |
