Adobe demonstrates new practical AI helpers for image and video editing

[12:39 Fri,18.October 2024   by Thomas Richter]

Adobe introduced several practical AI tools during MAX 2024, alongside innovations such as the[Generative Expand feature in Premiere Pro](www.slashcam.de/news/single/Generatives-Erweitern-jetzt-in-Premiere-Pro--Beta--18880.html), via sneak previews. These tools aim to simplify tedious tasks in photo, video, animation, and even audio workflows. For instance, they can easily clean up unwanted objects in videos and photos, offer precise control over AI-generated images using 3D models, automatically produce sound effects for video content, or animate graphics via text prompts.

The so-called "Sneaks" are private projects by individual developers and not official Adobe products. However, if they receive positive feedback during their presentation, there&s a good chance they will be further developed and integrated into Adobe&s Creative Cloud apps.

Project Super Sonic

Matching sound effects to videos

Project Super Sonic focuses on AI-generated sound through video-to-audio capabilities. Not only can it produce high-quality 48kHz audio tracks via text prompts, but it&s also highly interesting for filmmakers because it can automatically generate appropriate sound effects for specified videos through object recognition. Additionally, it can modify existing recordings to adjust specific timings, tonalities, and dynamics, or transform music into different styles. This could be used, for example, to record a desired sound effect as an "audio sketch" with your voice and use it as a template, replacing it with a real SFX of the same length, dynamics, and/or emphasis.

Automatically remove unwanted objects

Project Clean Machine makes life easier for filmmakers and photographers by automatically removing unwanted objects (like people walking through the shot) and camera flashes from photos and videos. It works similarly to the[Content Aware Fill feature in Premiere Pro](www.slashcam.de/artikel/Werbung/Adobe-Content-Aware-Fill---Videomaterial-retten-Dank-intelligenter-Objektentfernung--alles-.html), but is more advanced because it also corrects unwanted effects caused by the removed visual elements. For instance, if fireworks in the background or camera flashes overexpose some frames, Clean Machine ensures that color and lighting remain consistent even after the fireworks are removed.

Animation via prompt

Project In Motion uses generative AI to animate text or graphics according to text prompts. The resulting videos can then be further modified in appearance using prompts or reference images. This allows changes in design styles, such as transforming vector graphics into watercolor or oil painting animations. It speeds up the design process and reduces the effort required for manual keyframing.

Seamlessly insert objects

Project Perfect Blend is essentially the counterpart to Clean Machine, as it allows for the seamless insertion of objects into images. After an object is newly inserted into an image, its color, lighting, and even shadow can be adjusted so that it blends naturally into the background.

Generate images from 3D scenes

Project Scenic offers creatives more control over images generated by Adobe&s Firefly image AI by allowing them to define the spatial layout of a desired scene via 3D. This three-dimensional scene layout can be created using prompts without prior 3D modeling knowledge and then refined in detail. For example, the camera angle can be adjusted, and objects in a scene can be placed or changed. This gives users much better control over the final generated image without needing multiple trial-and-error iterations through text prompts alone.

Turn sketches into images

Project Remix A Lot allows users to turn simple sketches into fully rendered graphics, a variation of image-to-image AI tools. By selecting a sketch and writing a prompt, the tool generates a poster or design that retains the original concept but enriches it with professional elements. It can also convert designs into various formats suitable for different social media platforms.

Project Hi-Fi allows users to use rough sketches (or other images) as templates for AI-generated images, enabling them to specify the dimensions or shape of a desired object precisely.
