In addition to its professional Creative Cloud, Adobe continues to offer easier-to-use creative software for amateur filmmakers and photographers, albeit rather well hidden on its website. With the annual update to the 2025 version, Adobe Premiere (and Photoshop) Elements have now been given new functions - and also a new pricing model: the programs are now only available with a 3-year license.
New features in Adobe Premiere Elements 2025
According to Adobe, the editing window has been simplified once again so that changes to video material can be implemented more quickly. Video and audio tracks can now be grouped for easier navigation and individual tracks can be locked to prevent accidental changes. A new “Quick Tools” menu provides access to the most frequently used editing options.

New tools have been added for editing colors, for example for subsequent white balancing, and the hue and brightness of individual areas or the entire scene can also be adjusted. A kind of color grading with lookup tables (LUTs) should also be possible, even if there seem to be mainly some defaults to automatically change the mood or look of a scene. However, it should also be possible to import and apply your own color schemes.
For the design of dynamic titles, there are new templates as well as extended options for alignment, size, direction, color and spacing to match text and story. It is possible to access free title templates from Adobe Stock directly from the program
Also new: 3-year license
Adobe emphasizes that the Elements programs do not need to be subscribed to, but at the same time only offers them as a time-limited annual license - this costs 98.98 for Premiere or Photoshop Elements (148.98 for both together) and expires 3 years after activation. It cannot be extended - the Editor will no longer be available, but the Organizer can continue to be used for an unlimited period.
If you want to continue working with Premiere Elements after the three years, you will have to buy or rent a new license. This is technically not a subscription model, as nothing has to be renewed or canceled, but still it is a departure from the old “purchase model” with an unlimited license.
