Austrian storage specialist Angelbird has introduced an AtomX CFast adapter that makes it possible to store recordings from Atomos Ninja V recorders on standard CFast 2.0 Type I cards instead of special SSDminis. Atomos had also immediately introduced the new SSDmini form factor in 2018 along with the compact 5" 4K60p recorder/monitor Ninja V, as commercially available SSDs protrude significantly in the Ninja V&s small enclosure. The nearly square SSDminis, shortened by 20%, are just as big as normal 2.5-inch SSDs with their detachable docking handle - but without this handle they fit exactly into the Ninja V without overhanging. Angelbird already offered SSDmini media for the Atomos Ninja V, but with the new adapter, all standard CFast 2.0 Type I cards (which are much smaller than SSDmini media) can now be used as recording media. This is especially handy if you already have CFast 2.0 media and don&t want to buy the special SSDminis (which are only compatible with Atomos recorders). Atomos Ninja V It should be noted, however, that the respective CFast 2.0 memory cards have a sufficiently large continuous write speed for recording. Angelbird promises problem-free recording of high-resolution videos with high frame rates in compressed and RAW formats such as Apple ProRes / Avid DNx (with up to 4kDCIp60) or Apple ProRes RAW (with up to 6k30p, 4k120p) when using its own AV PRO CF - CFast 2.0 memory card.
