Apple unveils flagship iPhone 15 Pro Lineup with 3 nm CPU, ACES, external ProRes recording, new LOG and more

Apple has just unveiled its flagship iPhone 15 Pro Mac model at its highly acclaimed September event, which comes with a whole range of innovations - including many that should be of great interest to media professionals and smartphone filmmakers.

For example, the new iPhone Pro models feature a CPU (A17 Pro) for the first time, which was manufactured in a 3 nm design and should thus secure Apple a technological lead over the competition in terms of computing power and effectiveness for some time.

The new CPU/GPU power (Pro GPU with 6 cores) should be seen most spectacularly on games ported to a smartphone for the first time, such as Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Death Stranding, Assassin&s Creed Mirage, etc. But the iPhones 15 Pro models also hold a remarkable number of innovations for video users. These include:

- for the first time ACES color correction workflows for a smartphone
- a 5x optical (!) zoom (only for iPhone Pro Max)
- 4K ProRes 60p recording
- external ProRes recording via USB-C
- a new LOG format
- spatial video recording for Apple Vision Pro (coming later via firmware update)
- further improved video stabilization
- titanium body, making the iPhone 15 Pro models the lightest Pro iPhones to date

With this, the iPhone 15 Pro models, once again equipped with 48 MP camera sensors and plenty of computanioal photography know-how, move quite a bit further towards being professional tools for moving images - a very exciting development that we will be paying more attention to in the future.

Price and availability

The Phone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in Titanium Black, Titanium White, Titanium Blue and Titanium Natural.

The iPhone 15 Pro is available at an entry-level price of €1,199 including tax, with storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is available from 1,449 euros incl. VAT, with storage capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.
