The update of the Atomos Ninja V monitor/recorder via new firmware AtomOS 10.51 announced in May is now available and brings improvements in the user interface and workflow as well as the possibility for owners of the Z CAM E2 camera to record via HDMI 5.8K Apple ProRes RAW with up to 60fps in 12bit (Z CAM E2-F6, E2-F8 and E2-S6) or 4K ProRes RAW with the models Z-CAM Micro 4/3 E2, E2-M4 and E2 C.

Z-CAM E2 users can also operate their camera directly via the touch display of the Ninja V using the new AtomOS. Since the compact "cube camera" E2 does not have its own preview/touch display, but is controlled either via an old-fashioned up/down minimal menu or a smartphone, this is a practical feature. The Z-CAM E2 camera can be navigated directly via the touch screen of the Ninja V using the menu, arrow and enter keys as well as the keys on the camera. However, camera control via display is not possible when RAW is recorded via HDMI.
In addition, a function has been added to the Record menu of the Ninja V that allows the menus to be kept active when information is required for the Record menu and display. Through the firmware update, the AtomHDR engine now also supports Z CAM Zlog2 Gamma for recording video in Apple ProRes or Avid Dnx.
The older Z Cam E2, which is rarely found in this country, has a 4/3" CMOS sensor, the internal recording on CFast 2.0 cards reaches up to 4K@160fps (10bit / H.265). Beyond that you can record in Apple ProRes (without raw) or in an own, but partly debayed ZRaw format.
