The latest update 8.5.1 for the software of Blackmagic's live switcher series ATEM (for macOS and Windows) brings improved input and monitor connectivity for all ATEM Mini models and allows adjustments of the button brightness. In addition, the update provides support for maintaining still images in the ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Pro ISO media pool when power is interrupted, and includes general performance and stability improvements for all ATEM Mini models.
The Blackmagic ATEM Mini Switcher allows switching between multiple FullHD live HDMI video sources via its compact control panel, e.g. for live streaming via YouTube or Facebook. Via HDMI Out an external recorder, monitor or projector can be connected. Via the console-like control panel, the individual audio and video sources can be directly selected and video effects and transitions activated. Alternatively, the mixing of the channels can also be controlled by the free ATEM software Control (Windows/Mac) via computer via Ethernet.

Using the integrated DVE processor, picture-in-picture effects for live commentary as well as cross-fades or effects such as dip-to-color, DVE squeeze and DVE push can be created. The integrated Media Pool holds up to 20 separate RGBA graphics such as titles, opening panels and logos that can be loaded and displayed live.
For complex effects such as graphic wipe fades, still images from the video stream can be stored and used in the internal media pool. Chroma or luminance keying (e.g. for fading in titles) is possible using the ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyer. Stored graphics can be managed on the computer via ATEM Software Control or imported directly from Photoshop via the ATEM Photoshop plug-in.
