At the NAB 2017 about four months ago, Blackmagic showed with a first open beta version where the journey at Resolve is heading. The integration of Fairlight now also enables professional audio editing in a separate "Resolve room". With VST effects and sample-accurate audio editing in the multitrack timeline with approx. 60 real-time tracks, 6 bands of parametric EQ, expander, gate, compressor, limiter and 3D room motion are available on each track.
But also numerous other changes and improvements have been incorporated into the new version of the program, which is now also intended to establish itself in the area of video editing. The performance of the editing timeline has been greatly accelerated and can now easily keep up with typical editing platforms.
After a total of nine beta versions, the final version is now available for download and Blackmagic has not only kept its word that users of the previous Studio version will also receive this update for free. New customers will continue to receive a slightly slimmed-down version free of charge. In addition, the price of the large full studio version was reduced from around 1,000 to just under 300 euros. There is no doubt that Blackmagic will gain some market share at these prices and the now really powerful range of functions as an integrated editing, grading and audio suite.
