Blackmagic Pyxis Monitor - 5” HDR touchscreen with camera control

Blackmagic&s cameras, introduced in April Pyxis 6K full-frame cameras, are only delivered with an electronic viewfinder - now Blackmagic has announced the Pyxis monitor, an extremely bright 5" HDR touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which can be used both for viewing the live camera image and for controlling the camera.

It features the same controls and overlays as the built-in LCD of the Pyxis and can thus be used as an alternative to control all the camera&s functions, including live video, HUD settings, menus, 3D LUTs, and metadata - for example, when the integrated camera display is obscured by rigging or accessories.

Blackmagic Pyxis Monitor

The Blackmagic Design Pyxis Monitor, made of metal, connects to the camera with just one USB-C cable and is extremely bright with a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits. It can be used both with the Blackmagic Pyxis and Ursa Cine cameras. Thanks to the numerous mounting points, it offers several mounting options and can be attached either as a large viewfinder directly to the camera or to a camera rig for easier focusing and framing. Thanks to its USB-C connection cable, it can also be mounted away from the camera on accessories like cranes or gimbals.

Blackmagic Pyxis Monitor

It is equipped with three freely assignable function buttons for quick access to Zebra, Focus Assist, False Color, and more. Its design is intended to allow the controls to be felt, even when operating the monitor from the front. Thanks to its bright display and the included removable sunshade, the Pyxis Monitor&s screen content is easy to read even in sunlight. During recording, a bright tally light on the monitor glows, which is easily visible from a distance.

The Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor also works with the Blackmagic URSA Cine. When mounted on this camera, it transforms into a large viewfinder since it shares the same USB-C connection as the Blackmagic PYXIS.
