Blackmagic has published an exciting development announcement at IBC: The Blackmagic Design Team is currently working on making Blackmagic RAW available for the Sonx FX9 and Sony FX6. As with cameras from Panasonic, Canon, Nikon and others, the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G will be used as an external monitor recorder. We met Craig Heffernan from Blackmagic to tell us all about it incl. the current status of the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive

However, the caveat with the Sony FX9 is that the Sony XDCA module must be used for external Blackmagic RAW recording. With the Sony FX6, no additional hardware should be required between the camera and Video Assist - similar to the ProRes RAW solution of the FX6 with the Ninja V+.
