Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF is now approved for Netflix productions

Netflix has added Blackmagic&s new Cine camera URSA Cine 12K LF to its list of approved cameras for productions. The preferred recording format is Blackmagic RAW (up to 8:1).

Important for approval are, among other things, dynamic range, resolution, codec, data rate, color space, and workflow compatibility. Netflix has stipulated that 90% of the final total runtime of a program must be recorded with approved cameras. The Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 and the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF are already among the cameras approved by Netflix.

Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF

The Blackmagic URSA Cine is a digital film camera with some interesting innovations. For example, it integrates fast storage directly into the camera and enables fast network connections to synchronize material directly on set. The camera uses a newly developed 36 x 24 mm RGBW sensor with large pixels, which should lead to a high dynamic range. Flexibility in lens selection is offered by the possibility to switch between PL, LPL, EF, and Hasselblad mounts. An integrated WLAN function also allows remote viewing of the material. Professional connectors such as Lemo and Fischer connectors round off the equipment.
