Blackmagic is equipping a very special Cine URSA with a 65mm sensor developed in-house - the model was announced together with the URSA Cine 12K at NAB, but the camera will not be launched on the market until the end of the year. A price for the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 has now been communicated: it will be available for pre-order from Blackmagic Design dealers worldwide from 29,995 US dollars (plus tax). In comparison, the Blackmagic Design URSA Cine 12K is priced at a good 18,000 euros including the URSA Cine EVF, while the price of an ARRI65 is being kept under wraps - such a camera is usually only rented.
Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K
Apart from the sensor, the features of the 17K 65 are largely the same as those of the URSA Cine 12K, which we presented in detail at here. However, by equipping a version with an even larger RGBW sensor - measuring 50.1mm wide, 23.3mm high and 55.9mm in diameter - Blackmagic is obviously now also targeting a camera segment that is moving towards IMAX. The sensor has a resolution of 17520 x 8040 pixels and is said to offer a dynamic range of 16 stops.

Like the 12K Cine-URSA, the 17K features industry-standard Lemo and Fischer connectors and 8TB of high-performance storage. It can store up to 4 hours of Blackmagic RAW material in 17K with full readout of the 65mm sensor. Media upload is possible via high-speed network and synchronization with the Blackmagic Cloud. The lens mount can be switched between PL, LPL, EF and Hasselblad.
