The rumor cycle for new camera launches in 2024 continues apace. Currently, the internet augurs seem to be quite certain that we can expect the successor to the successful Canon EOS R5 in February 2024. The Canon EOS R5 Mark II is said to have left the prototype test stage and is being prepared for series production.
Canon is said to have tested different pixel counts and is now focusing on 60-62 MP, which should also make 31 and 15.5 MP outputs possible.
For video users, the mention of a new DIGIC X2S processor, which should enable internal 8K 60p and 4K 120 or 240p readouts, should be particularly exciting. Since the Canon EOS R5 already records 8K RAW in max. 30p internally and the Nikon Z8 and Z9 DSLMs are already available on the market that record 8K RAW with 60p internally, corresponding functions are quite likely in Canon's EOS R5 successor.
