Canon RF 85mm F1.2L USM - fast portrait lens for Canons mirrorless full format cameras

Canon continues to follow its lens roadmap announced earlier this year and has just launched its new RF 85mm F1.2L USM lens with RF mount for its mirrorless full-frame series currently consisting of Canon EOS-R and Canon EOS RP.

The new Canon RF 85mm F1.2L USM features a high luminous intensity with its f1.2 and is supposed to prevent better chromatic aberrations thanks to its BR optics (Blue Spectrum Refractive) design. In addition, the Canon RF 85mm F1.2L USM L-series lens has extended weather protection thanks to comprehensive gaskets and fluorine coatings.

The Canon RF 85mm F1.2L USM has 9 diaphragms, the minimum focusing distance is 0.85m and the filter diameter is now 82mm. Measuring approximately 103.2 x 117.3mm at 1,195g, the new Canon is minimally heavier than its SLR counterpart, but according to Canon it also includes faster CPUs for AF and new RF features such as the lens control ring for optional ISO, aperture and shutter speed control.

The Canon RF 85mm F1.2L USM lens will be available from the end of June 2019 at a price of 2,999 (RRP).
