Canon presents PowerShot V1, EOS R50 V and RF-S 14-30mm

Canon today introduced two new cameras and a lens that are particularly recommended for content creation and vlogging: The PowerShot V1 is a compact camera with an integrated ultra-wide-angle zoom lens. The EOS R50 V, on the other hand, is an APS-C camera with an RF interchangeable lens mount that has been equipped with special vlogging functions. The new RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens is a particularly good match because it is the first Canon RF lens with internal power zoom.
Canon PowerShot V1
The PowerShot V1 remains true to the series& claim and is a handy 4K fixed-lens compact camera. The integrated 16-50 mm lens (F2.8-4.5) offers a versatile zoom range with a strong ultra-wide angle, which can be particularly practical for selfie shots. The sensor is relatively large as a 1.4-inch type and offers an intelligent dual-pixel autofocus. An optical image stabilizer is also installed, and there is also a Digital Movie IS.
Thanks to an active cooling system, long recordings in 4K with up to 4K 60p should be possible. Above 30p, only about 64 percent of the sensor width is used. In Full HD, recording should be possible with up to 120p. Canon Log 3 is available as a picture profile.
The PowerShot V1 weighs only approx. 374 g and has an integrated microphone with noise reduction, as well as an external microphone connection. The audio levels can be monitored in real time via the headphone jack. A Bluetooth remote control can be paired for external control for hands-free recording. WLAN and USB are available for data transfer. The PowerShot V1 should be available from April for 999.00 euros. There will also be a PowerShot V1 Creator Kit including HG-1000TBR grip tripod & 128GB memory card for 1049 euros.
Canon EOS R50 V
If you want something more, the EOS R50 V is available, which, as an APC-C RF-mount camera with interchangeable lenses, also offers many video functions. It has a second tripod mount for portrait shots and a second shutter release on the front of the housing.
A 24 MP APS-C sensor including Dual Pixel CMOS AF II is installed here. This camera can also record 4K with up to 60p and here, too, only about 64 percent of the sensor width is used above 30p. And here, too, Log 3 and 10-bit 4:2:2 recording options are available for post-production. The four-channel audio options are not common in this price range, which enable the recording of multiple sound sources for interviews, podcasts and multi-microphone setups. The EOS R50 V has a rotating and swiveling touchscreen for easy adjustment of settings and a record button on the front for quick start of video recording. For added convenience, the special LIVE button provides quick access to live streaming options.
The EOS R50 V also enables fast data transfer via WLAN, Bluetooth or USB and is compatible with the Canon Live Switcher Mobile App, which enables easy multi-camera streaming with individual layouts and direct streaming to YouTube or Facebook. In combination with the new RF-S 14-30mm (see below), direct control of the zoom is also possible via the camera. The EOS R50V Body should be available from April for 759 euros.
Canon RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ Lens
The RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ is the first Canon RF lens with internal power zoom. It offers two variable zoom speeds and an optical image stabilizer. UD and aspherical lenses as well as the Super Spectra coating should ensure exceptional sharpness. With a close-up limit of 15 cm, even the smallest details in front of the camera can be captured. The quiet STM autofocus should ensure smooth tracking with minimal noise.
The RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ is not only light and quite compact at approx. 181 g - it also does not extend when zooming, which is interesting in gimbal operation. The RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ should also be available from April for 399 euros. It should also be included in two kit versions: For 999 euros as PZ Kit (EOS R50 V + RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM) as well as For 1049 euros as Creator Kit EOS R50 V + RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM, HG-1000TBR grip tripod, Canon DM-E100 stereo microphone and 128GB memory card).
