At the upcoming IBC, MoCo specialist Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC) will show the new, compact camera robot Cinebot Mini, which is said to be simpler and more affordable than previous solutions. It is also said to be highly portable and, with an 8-hour battery life, suitable not only for studio shoots but also for on-location recording.

Not so mini, the Cinebot Mini
According to MRMC, the Cinebot Mini can record manually executed movements and thus repeat them exactly. It is operated either by hand, via mobile device or via the Flair software as with the large camera robots. It doesn't sound to us like the Cinebot Mini can be used to pre-program camera movements either; the emphasis is clearly on manual execution or "simpler, more familiar control" compared to keyframe-based camera movements such as those in the high-speed Bolt systems.
The Cinebot Mini supports payloads up to 10 kilograms and offers an arm length of max. 1.3m. It can be moved on rails - this movement is also logged - and/or on a height-adjustable base.
With the Cinebot Mini, MRMC - a company that was acquired by Nikon in 2016, by the way - wants to make motion control available for every set. Therefore, the space requirement should be smaller, as well as the price. However, a concrete number is not yet named.
