The filmmaker Paul Joy has tested the two mobile Sound Recorder Tascam DR-100 mkII and Zoom H4n in detail. Both devices have XLR inputs, built-in omni-directional microphones recording in WAV or MP3 up to 16/24 bit 96 kHz and a monochrome LCD screen to operate. The clear winner is the Tascam DR-100 mkII for the following reasons: METAL, dual batteries plus charger opportunity via USB, better find the correct level, buttons, LCD and interface S / PDIF input, separate line out and headphone jacks, Omni and Uni-built microphones and a better overall reactivity on both his operation.
