DJI Mavic 4 Pro - New design and 52 minutes flight time
[13:30 Sun,12.January 2025 by Thomas Richter]
Thanks to the leaker Jasper Ellens, we now have a first high-quality image plus some new technical data of DJI&s new semi-professional drone Mavic 4 Pro, which is expected to be unveiled in April. DJI has given the new Mavic generation (there will probably be other models besides the Pro version shown here) a completely new look, which has been received rather critically online. The housing is now more rounded at the head and the gimbal with the triple camera is significantly more prominent, giving it more vertical freedom of movement. This would visually confirm the rumor of an extended tilt range of +80°, significantly more than the +35° of the Mavic 3 Pro.

According to rumors, the Mavic 4 Pro should have a flight time of 52 minutes and can thus stay in the air significantly longer than the Mavic 3 Pro, which can only fly for 43 minutes (both only under optimal flight conditions). Further innovations include a stepless ND filter, video recording with 6K/60fps, dual native ISO, video transmission via O4+, a 100-megapixel sensor, 14 stops of dynamic range, and 2 TB of internal storage.

Longer Flight Time: Bigger Battery - More Weight
If the rumors are true, DJI has opted for a longer flight time using a larger battery instead of trying to keep the weight of the new Mavic below the important 900-gram limit of the drone regulation, for which less strict rules apply. The new battery is said to have a capacity of 6654 mAh and thus has significantly more charge than the battery of the Mavic 3 Pro with 5,000 mAh, which is also reflected in the higher weight of 1,045 grams compared to the 958g of the Mavic 3 Pro.

What do we know about the DJI Mavic 4 Pro?
Several likely features have already been leaked, some of which have also been confirmed by screenshots from the DJI Fly app. Thus, there is at least one model of the Mavic 4 Pro, possibly a Cine version again, which has a **2 TB internal SSD storage**, which would be a doubling compared to the Mavic 3 Pro Cine.

A leaked video shows that the flight assistance live image of the downward-facing VIO camera and the map view can now be displayed simultaneously as a picture-in-picture mode to the live image of the front camera.

**The alleged technical data of the Mavic 4 Pro**
- Hasselblad main camera with 4/3" 100MP CMOS sensor with 28mm f/2-f/11 lens (like the Mavic 3 Pro)
- Video recording with 6K/60fps (the Mavic 3 Pro could only do 5.1K with 50fps), 4K/120fps,
- 14 Stops Dynamic Range (Mavic 3 Pro 12)
- Advanced Dual-Controller (allows control of the drone by two users, e.g. for pilot and cameraman)
- 2 TB SSD internal storage (Cine version?)
- RTK (Enterprise version?)
- visual positioning via Triple Eye, i.e. three separate visual sensors are used for precise position determination and obstacle avoidance
- optimized gimbal with -90° to +80° tilt range (Mavic 3 Pro: -90° to +35°)
Price and Release Date
According to rumors, the Mavic 4 Pro will be slightly more expensive than its predecessor. The basic version (a Mavic 4 Pro solo) is said to cost around 2,200 euros, which would be about 100 euros more than the Mavic 3 Pro. It is expected to be launched on April 25, 2025.
