The wireless microphone, weighing only 10 grams, can operate for 10 hours and connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth. It will be available individually for 59 euros. The Mic Mini Bundle, offering more options, costs 89 euros and includes a dedicated receiver that can transmit audio via cable to a camera. According to the images, the receiver can be connected directly to an iPhone/Android smartphone or a PC using a USB-C/Lightning adapter.

For use with a Sony camera, it is likely – as with the Mic 2 – that an optional camera adapter will be required. This adapter enables the receiver to be mounted on the MI shoe, powered via the camera, and capable of transmitting audio wirelessly to the camera.

For recording scenarios like interview setups requiring two microphones, there will be a complete bundle available, including two Mini Mics, a receiver, and a charging station that provides power for 48 hours of operation. The bundle will be priced at 169 euros. Since the official product images have already been leaked, the market launch is likely imminent – although no specific date has been announced yet.

Differences from the DJI Mic 2
How does the new Mini Mic differ from the Mic 2, which was introduced in January? Judging by the images, the 1.1" OLED touchscreen on the receiver appears to have been reduced. The size difference of the microphones/transmitters is also evident: the Mini Mic lives up to its name, being less than half the size.

Since the Mini Mic costs less than half of the Mic 2 (349 euros), it can be assumed that DJI has omitted some (professional) features. Which ones exactly is still speculation: we suspect that the local recording function of the transmitters, including the 32-bit float capability, has been removed.

The new Mini Mic will have to compete against the recently introduced RØDE Wireless Micro, which also features a very small form factor and is priced similarly in its bundle (2 x microphone plus receiver) at 159 euros.
