DJI is teasing two upcoming product launches with the slogans "Focus on every move" and "Lightweight, powerful in the moment" thanks to the reliable leaker Igor Bogdanov, we already know what&s being presented. On Tuesday, February 18th at 2 PM, the new version 7 of the smartphone gimbal DJI Osmo Mobile for the first time also with a special P(ro) version. And on Thursday, also at 2 PM, the compact DSLR/DSLM gimbal DJI RS 4 Mini will be released. The prices are already known as well. ;)
DJI&s teaser images show the interesting new feature that represents a major innovation for both the Osmo and the RS 4 gimbal series: a special tracking sensor that allows for better object tracking than before. DJI Osmo Mobile 7: What&s improved?It&s clear from the box shots that the battery life has been significantly improved, and the Osmo Mobile 7 lasts around 10 hours (instead of only 6.5 hours before) on a single charge. The battery is now said to have a capacity of 3,350 mAh instead of only 1,000 mAh and can be fully charged in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. In addition, some of the main functionalities have probably been improved, and the magnetic clamp now supports even wider smartphones. In terms of design, the new Osmo Mobile is very similar to its predecessor: the handle seems almost identical, but the gimbal joint is significantly lower. ;) DJI Osmo Mobile 7P Box What are the differences between the Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P?The new P(ro) version of the Osmo 7 comes with an extra tracking module, which is also shown in the teaser image. It is attached to the magnetic phone clamp, which is used to attach the smartphone to the Osmo, and is rumored to enable even better automatic subject tracking via AI. ;) DJI Osmo Mobile 7P This allows you to probably take even better selfie shots from a distance (and let the gimbal replace a cameraman). As shown in the following image, the module looks similar to the DJI LiDAR module, which we already tested (in conjunction with the RS 4 Pro gimbal): ;) The new DJI Osmo Mobile 7P tracking module compared to the DJI LiDAR module The similarity suggests that this is also a laser-based (LiDAR) tracking system a stripped-down version of the DJI LiDAR module. Exactly what new functionalities the new sensor and AI tracking will bring compared to the classic ActiveTrack 5.0 object tracking system of the predecessor model is not known. Another advantage of the Osmo Mobile 7P version is said to be an improved version of the telescopic selfie stick integrated into the handle. ;) DJI RS4 Mini DJI RS 4 MiniThe RS 4 Mini gimbal is similar to the DJI RS 3 / Mini a lighter, more compact variant of the DJI RS 4 with a lower payload capacity and thus tailored for use with mirrorless cameras. The major innovation here is also the possibility of integrating an additional new tracking sensor (which, however, looks very different from the one on the Osmo 7P) into the system to track subjects via AI better than before. That&s why DJI also offers two different versions here, one without and one with it. Little is known about further innovations, only that the battery life has been extended from 10 to 13 hours. DJI RS4 Mini PricesThe prices for the two new models are already known: the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 will cost 99 euros and the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P 159 euros. Interestingly, the new version is significantly cheaper than the old one: the Osmo Mobile 6 cost 149 euros (but is now on sale for 109 euros).
