As planned, DZOfilm is now expanding its Arles cine lens series, which has been available since this summer, with five focal lengths: 14mm / 21mm / 40mm / 135mm / 180mm. The 21mm and 40mm achieve the typical series speed of T1.4, while the ultra-wide-angle 14mm offers a T1.9, at the tele end a T1.8 is achieved with the 135mm and a T2.4 with the 180mm.
DZOfilm Arles new cine primes
With a length of 130mm (PL), the latter two telephoto lenses are just under a centimeter longer than the otherwise uniformly built Arles lenses, but their two lens rings are in the same position. In terms of weight, the new focal lengths are not out of line, even if the 135mm is the heaviest of them so far at 1846g.
The Arles series covers an image circle of 46.5mm (Vista Vision) and is aimed at higher-end film production. Optical components with low dispersion are designed to suppress chromatic aberrations and focus breathing should also be minimal. Reflections, stray light and ghosting are also minimized thanks to multi-layer nano-coating. The lenses have a 16-blade diaphragm, a continuous front diameter of 95mm, an M86 filter thread and uniformly positioned lens rings including 0.8 MOD spiders.
With the new additions, the DZOfilm Arles series now comprises 10 focal lengths, 14 / 21 / / 25 / 35 / 40 / 50 / 75 / 100 / 135 / 180mm. They are available with PL mount as standard, which can also be changed to Ef or LPL. The entire series costs approx. 23,500 euros, individually they are available for between 2,379 and 3,021 euros.
