DZOfilm is launching a new version of its existing macro zoom X-tract 18-28mm T8 - the new model comes with a prism attachment that deflects the beam path by 90°, like a periscope. The macro probe makes even more extreme angles of view possible, such as frog or bird&s eye views. Apart from that, it seems to be structurally identical to the 0° version. (Laowa has been offering a similar 90° macro lens in probe form for some time, but with a 24mm fixed focal length.)

The X-tract 90° 18-28mm T8 offers full-frame coverage, a constant F8 aperture and a magnification ratio of 2.1:1. The optical construction comprises 26 elements in 19 groups; the minimum distance between the lens tip and the subject when focusing is only 6mm. Thanks to a parfocal design, the focus point should not shift when zooming.
The manual lens is equipped with three lens rings including gear rings, the aperture consists of 10 blades. The macro probe can also be rotated 360 degrees for the appropriate viewing direction.

Weighing 1132g and with a length of 421mm, the new 90° version is hardly larger, but around 40 grams heavier than the 0° model. Both are dust and water resistant and equipped with a PL mount.
The DZOfilm X-tract 90° 18-28mm T8 lens costs 4,163 euros and should be available soon.
