Dell has introduced a 2-in-1 convertible version of the Dell Precision 5530 workstation notebook, which is equipped with a 15.6" display, an Intel Kaby Lake-G CPU and an AMD Radeon Pro WX graphics card, with the exception of the graphics card and the 2-in-1 hybrid version of the popular Dell XPS 15 notebook.
The new model can be used both as a traditional notebook and as a tablet via a 10-point multitouch touch screen - or alternatively, using Wacom's AEWS 2.0 technology with Dell's Active Pen pen. The display can be either a 15.6" Full-HD (with 100% coverage of the sRGB color space) or an UltraHD Infinity-Edge panel (with 100% coverage of the AdobeRGB color space) - both are 400 nits bright.
Dell Precision 2-in-1 5530
The 2kg Dell Precision 2-in-1 5530 workstation uses either Intel's new 4-core 8-thread CPU Core i7-8706G/8705G or Core i5-8305G, each with AMD's Radeon Pro WX Vega M GL GPU with 4GB HBM2 memory, which is designed for professional applications and comes with the appropriate drivers. The non-expandable onBoard memory is equipped with 8, 16 or (only after startup) 32 GB DDR4-2400 memory - up to 2 TB SSDs with PCIe x4 3.0 interface can be configured as mass storage.
Due to the tablet functionality, sensors such as gyroscope, eCompass/Magnetometer, and an accelerometer are available, at interfaces including 2 x Thunderbolt 3, 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C and a MicroSD card reader.
Dell has not yet announced the price and release date of the professional 2-in-1 workstation. The operating systems Windows 10 Home 64, Windows 10 Pro 64, Ubuntu 16.04 SP1 or Red Hat 7.5 can be used.
