Dell has unveiled the Precision 7865, a new workstation that can be configured with AMD&s powerful ;) Dell Precision 7865
Dell is targeting its new high-performance tower at professional users - including video editors - who need a lot of CPU and GPU power as well as a large amount of storage. Thus, the Precision 7865 can be equipped in its maximum configuration with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX CPU with 64 cores as well as with two 300W GPUs such as a 32 GB AMD Radeon PRO W6800 or an NVIDIA RTX A6000 with 48 GB. A total of eight DDR4 3200 MHz RDIMM slots with a capacity of up to 1 TB (ECC) RAM are available for the RAM, and hard disks (HDDs and M.2 SSDs) with up to 56 TB can be configured for mass storage, which is especially important for video editing. A 1350 watt 80-plus power supply provides sufficient power. On the front of the case, in addition to two lockable drive bays, a number of easily accessible interfaces are available, such as two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports (one of which is PowerShare-enabled), two additional USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, as well as an SD 6.0 card reader and a universal audio jack, plus an optional optical drive mount. ;) Dell Precision 7865 Dell says the Precision 7865 tower&s redesigned chassis is 14% smaller than its predecessor, the Precision 7820, and has been optimized for thermal efficiency and low noise levels. The new case features a hexagonal ventilation pattern that directs air directly to critical components in the system. In addition, the tower case is equipped with a carrying handle to make it easier to transport. On the back, there are other interfaces such as two Ethernet ports, one of which is a 10 Gbps port, as well as three USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) Type-C ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) Type-A ports and another audio port. In addition, a serial port is also available for older devices. Thunderbolt3 ports, however, are only offered in the form of an optional add-on card. Video ports depend entirely on the choice of graphics card, as AMD&s Ryzen Threadripper does not include integrated graphics. ;) Dell Precision 7865 with Dell 38" U3821DW monitor Dell has not yet announced exact pricing and availability, but the 7865 should be available worldwide this summer.
