Dell unveiled the new Ultrasharp U3224KB monitor at CES 2023, a 32-incher with a resolution of 6,144 x 3,456 pixels and a pixel density of 223 ppi, which for the first time provides competition for Apple&s Pro Display XDR with also 6K (but with "only" 6,016 x 3,384 pixels resolution and 218 ppi). Dell also uses an IPS panel, but with the improved IPS Black technology, which is the result of a cooperation between Dell and LG and is supposed to deliver 1.4 times better contrast (2,000:1), 41% deeper blacks, and 1.2 times more accurate colors than ordinary IPS panels, according to Dell.

The 10-bit panel used runs at a maximum of 60 fps, but the brightness - which Dell doesn&t specify - should be at least 600 nits due to the DisplayHDR 600 certification (Apple&s Pro Display XDR is probably much higher than Dell&s 6K model with its 1,000 nits, though). The color space coverage is very good with 99% DCI-P3 as well as 100% sRGB and Rec. 709 each.

The Dell Ultrasharp U3224KB also integrates a Thunderbolt 4 hub with numerous ports, making it ideal for connecting to modern laptops that often have few ports, which it thus expands to include numerous interfaces such as three HDMI 2.1 ports, miniDisplayPort 2.1, one upstream and one downstream Thunderbolt 4 port, three USB Type-A ports with 10 Gbps, and a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. Connected laptops can be powered with up to 140W of charging current. The front-facing USB ports at the bottom of the monitor can also be easily folded away when not in use, making them disappear. In addition, two PCs can be connected simultaneously via Auto KVM and operated with just one keyboard and mouse. Conveniently, the U3224KB can also be used turned upright (pivot).

Also on board is a high-quality 4K webcam with Sony Starvis CMOS sensor, which has "smart" features like automatic image alignment, brightness adjustment, improved clarity, an automatic shutter, and a microphone with echo cancellation. The webcam, which sits on top of the monitor, can be tilted (but not rotated) up to 20 degrees, and the field of view can be set to 65°, 78°, or 90°. Videos are recorded in 4K at 30 fps or 1080p at 30 or 60.
The Dell UltraSharp U3224KB is supposed to be launched in the first half of 2023. Unfortunately, Dell has not provided any information about the price yet.
