For a long time, many companies and tinkerers have pondered unsuccessfully over the problem - but now the developers of I&m Back claim to have actually made it: The digital film cartridge for analog SLR cameras. Instead of modifying a digital camera with a sensor back, as has been the case in the past, the new, digital film cartridge is supposed to be able to be simply inserted into the camera without having to make any hardware changes to the device.
;) I&m Back Film The resolution is said to be 20 megapixels, further technical details are hardly available. Like previous camera backs, I&m Back is initially offering the digital film cartridge on Kickstarter. Funding is set to launch on October 14, 2023. Then, it should also be announced in which price range I&m Back Film should approximately be. However, the digital film cartridge comes plenty late and should only be interesting for lovers of old camera bodies. For those who still want to use their old optics digitally can do so in higher quality (and even in the original 35mm full format) on normal digital cameras with adapters. This charming retro technology is also of little use to filmmakers. Because even if the digital cartridge could also record film clips, this would still require at least one modification to the shutter of the camera. If I&m Back actually succeeds in bringing the product to market, it is still an impressive achievement in our eyes to have developed a 100% functioning digital film cartridge.
