Externer Sonnet Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive with 2.600 MB/s! // IBC 2017

Sonnet has released the 1TB of the new mobile Fusion Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive series for PCs/Macs equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 port. Equipped with 1TB NVMe Flash memory, the portable drive is up to 2,600MB/second fast to read thanks to Thunderbolt 3 - the maximum write speed is 1,600MB/sec.

The drive is therefore suitable for 4K video editing, e. g. as a scratch disk - it is significantly faster than internal SSDs connected via SATA III, which are up to 600 MB/second. The maximum speed is dependent on a Thunderbolt 3 port connected to 4 PCIe lanes (x4 PCIe) - if it is internally connected to only 2 lanes, the maximum speed is only 1,400 MB/s.

The drive does not require any extra power - it is supplied by the computer. The sturdy, 350g heavy housing is made of aluminium and can be gripped with one hand (7 x 10 x 3.1 cm). The Sonnet Fusion 1TB Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Flash Drive will be launched at the end of September at a price of around 1,000 dollars.
