Apple introduces Final Cut Pro 11 - the new version of the editing program for Mac takes full advantage of Apple&s M-Series chips and offers new, intelligent functions. In addition to Magnetic Mask and Transcribe to Captions, the import, editing and delivery of spatial video projects directly on the Apple Vision Pro is now also supported.

Final Cut Pro for iPad has also been updated. New features in v2.1 include support for AI-based lighting and color adjustments as well as new drawing tools in Live Drawing.
AI tools: Magnetic Mask and Transcribe to Captions
With the new AI-based Magnetic Mask tool, people and objects in a video clip can be effortlessly isolated without the need for a green screen or time-consuming rotoscoping. An automatic analysis should offer additional flexibility when adapting backgrounds and environments. Magnetic Mask can also be combined with color corrections and video effects to edit and stylize any project.

With Transcribe to Captions, Final Cut users now also have the option of automatically generating subtitles in the timeline. A large language model trained by Apple is used for this, which analyzes spoken audio in the video and converts it into text.
AI-generated subtitles
Final Cut Pro had already received AI functions from Apple&s Neural Engine in previous updates, such as automatic adjustment of aspect ratios, simple lighting and color adjustments, slo-mo and voice isolation to improve speech intelligibility.
Spatial video editing for Apple Vision Pro
Final Cut Pro 11 now supports spatial video editing, allowing users to import footage and add effects, make color corrections and add titles to their projects. The position of titles and captured footage can also be adjusted during the editing process. Spatial video clips can be shot directly with the Vision Pro or on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and Canon&s new RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens in combination with the Canon R77.

Different display modes can be selected to preview the left and right eye viewing angles on the Mac display. With Mac Virtual Display, editing can be transferred to Apple Vision Pro, providing a huge and mobile display that is ideal for complex workflows.
Later this year, Mac Virtual Display will expand to a new panoramic size to create an even larger, curved 32:9 Ultra Wide display, equivalent to two 5K monitors side by side. Spatial videos can be exported directly to the photo library, viewed instantly in Vision Pro or shared by uploading to the native visionOS Vimeo app.
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.1
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.1 has also been released. The tablet version now also offers intelligent light and color adjustment based on Apple chips. This is designed to improve color, color balance, contrast and brightness in videos or still images in one simple step. The function is equally optimized for SDR, HDR, RAW and log-encoded media.

Haptic feedback for the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard gives users a slight boost when trimming clips, moving media, navigating the timeline or resizing viewer clips to snap points.
A new vertical zoom gesture allows users to increase or decrease the height of clips in the timeline. In addition, the size and position of the viewer can now be dynamically adjusted in picture-in-picture mode. The editing of recordings with 90 fps, 100 fps and 120 fps on the iPhone 16 Pro in the timeline is also supported.
New watercolor, colored pencil, fountain pen and monoline pen options have been added to the drawing tools in Live Drawing. New modular transitions, color correction presets and dynamic soundtracks have been added to the content library. Images can also be highlighted and overlaid with picture-in-picture and callout effects.
