With yesterday&s launch of the Panasonic S5 II and S5 IIX, the first news for accessories for Panasonic&s new video DSLMs has arrived. For example, Zacuto and SmallRig already have cage solutions with different expansion stages for the S5 II / S5 IIX on offer: Zacuto has installed new, rather clever bi-directional nato mounts in its S5 II cage, so that handgrips can now be freely positioned regardless of the orientation of their nato clamp.
The Zacuto cage also takes advantage of the Panasonic S5 II&s new loop mounts to provide three fixation points to the camera for twist-proof mounting. ![]() Added to this are ARRI rosette, various ¼-20 and ⅜-16 threads (some including lockpins) as well as an HDMI clamp and Arca-Swiss compatible tripod mount. SmallRig continues its two-pronged cage solution with the Panasonic S5 II / S5 IIX, featuring a more delicate, tight-fitting Mamba cage by comparison, and a more robustly designed standard cage with more mounts.
