Just two weeks after Google unveiled a preview version of its text-to-video AI, Veo (www.slashcam.de/news/single/Google-Veo-am-Start---neue-Video-KI-macht-ueber-60--18984.html), Veo 2 is already here. It&s designed to generate clips in higher resolutions, up to 4K, and with a length extending to several minutes. However, the currently available 4K demo clips on YouTube (www.youtube.com/@Google_DeepMind/videos) are only a maximum of 8 seconds long. While the clips from the first version noticeably featured few people, Veo 2 seems capable of rendering relatively realistic human representations. Although the "Sora Signature-Sequence" of a sleepwalking lady in Tokyo is still missing. Google provides the prompts used for all of the impressive demo clips, allowing users to easily compare quality with their favorite video AI. In internal tests using Meta&s MovieGenBench (www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=MovieGenBench) with 1003 diverse prompts from all areas, participants predominantly preferred Veo 2 videos over those from Kling 1.5, Minimax, and Sora Turbo. And judging by the demo videos, the quality of the clips is indeed extremely high. Veo 2 compared to Kling 1.5, Minimax, and Sora Turbo According to Google, Veo 2 offers an improved understanding of physical relationships and the subtleties of human movement and expression, resulting in higher fidelity and realism. Veo 2 can also interpret filmmaking jargon, allowing for various genres, lenses, or cinematic settings to be recreated via prompt, such as a chase shot from a frog&s perspective or a close-up of a scientist&s face peering through her microscope. "Hallucinations," i.e., unwanted, fabricated unrealistic details such as extra fingers or unexpected objects, are said to occur less frequently than with other video AIs. However, Google doesn&t yet mention capabilities like object-oriented video editing with the new Veo 2 model, which was demonstrated in the Veo preview (www.slashcam.de/news/single/Google-Veo-am-Start---neue-Video-KI-macht-ueber-60--18984.html). Starting today, the new Veo 2 features are available to selected users of VideoFX, Google&s lab tool for video generation (which is not yet available in Germany). Over the next year, Veo 2 is expected to be integrated for generating YouTube Shorts, among other applications. Like other Google AI models for creating images and videos, Veo 2 results also contain an invisible SynthID watermark that identifies them as AI-generated.
