Hollyland has unveiled a new, even smaller version of its Lark M2 wireless microphone system: the Lark M2S. The Lark M2S offers largely the same audio features as the M2, but features redesigned transmitters. They are smaller and lighter weighing 7g each and now attach directly to clothing via a titanium alloy clip; the M2 uses magnets. The logo has been removed.

Hollyland specifies -37 dBV ą 2dB @1 KHz, 94dB SP for the omnidirectional microphones. Audio is sampled at 48 kHz and 24-bit, with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 70dB. Integrated noise reduction is activated via a button on the receiver and offers two different strength modes (adjustable via the accompanying LarkSound app).
Transmitter and receiver connect automatically. Wireless transmission uses 2.4 GHz Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH). The maximum range is claimed to be up to 300m under ideal conditions.
The Lark M2S is a purely wireless system and does not offer integrated (backup) recording. Attaching other microphones to the transmitters is also not possible. A single charge is said to provide approximately 9 hours of operation, but without noise reduction activated.
The system is generally compatible with cameras, smartphones, computers, and other devices, but is shipped in different setups with varying receivers. The combo version includes both the camera and smartphone receivers, offering a 3.5mm analog jack and USB-C (but not Apple Lightning).
The camera receiver allows easy switching between mono and stereo. The redesigned rotary dial simplifies access to operating functions such as on/off, pairing, mute, and volume, with additional options for high, medium, and low levels. Audio can also be output and recorded in parallel, once via mini-jack, once via USB-C (this is not possible with the smartphone receiver due to the lack of a jack).
