Those who like to film close-ups will have more choice of cine macro fixed focal lengths from December. Laowa has already shown the Sword lenses, which are designed for full-frame format, at trade fairs, and now the market launch of the lightweight macro lenses is taking place - they only weigh between 640 and 957g.

The set comprises the six focal lengths 15mm T4.1, 25mm T2.9, 35mm T2.9, 60mm T2.9, 100mm T2.9 and 180mm T4.6, although their macro capabilities are not identical. While the three wide-angle lenses offer 1:1 magnification, the 60mm and 100mm offer 2x magnification and the 180mm 1.5x magnification. The closest focusing distance is 12cm / 16.8cm / 17.8cm / 21cm / 24.7cm / 30.6cm respectively.
Chromatic aberrations should be well controlled and, according to Laowa, the sharpness should not fall off towards the edge of the image. The angle of rotation of the focus and aperture is different in each case. The aperture consists of 13 blades, except for the 15mm (14 blades) and the 25mm (7 blades). The 15mm has a filter diameter of 95mm, while the other lenses have a diameter of 77mm. The overall length is between 67.27mm (15mm) and 139.5mm (100mm).
The Laowa Sword Cine macros are equipped with an ARRI PL mount as standard, but are also available with Canon EF, Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z or the L mount for an additional charge. Individually, the lenses cost 1,499 dollars each, and a set of 4 and 6 lenses is also available.
