The Chinese manufacturer Gudsen has introduced a new single-handed gimbal for the 3-axis image stabilization of mirrorless cameras (up to 1.8kg) such as the Canon 60D/70D or Panasonic GH4/GH5 or Sony a7S II or a6300. The MOZA AirCross is a lighter alternative to the MOZA Air Gimbal, which is also somewhat heavier itself due to its maximum payload of 3.2kg.
The focus of the MOZA Air Cross - as with other new gimbal presentations - is on intelligent additional functions. Gudsen uses the MOZA app (iOS/Android) to offer programmable time-lapse recordings, but not object tracking like the latest Zhiyun and DJI egg hand gimbals.

The app can also be used to change the gimbal settings, calibrate sensors or select modes. The buttons on the handle of the gimbal can be used to switch between the different gimbal modes or to start and stop recording.
MOZA AirCross control system
Gudsen offers an interesting special feature by means of the separately available thumb controller. It can be used as a small mimic control tactile remote control, as each of its movements is tracked by the camera using the MOZA AirCross Gimbal. Thus, a camera can be controlled by two cameramen - one roughly follows a moving object or performs a camera move, the other takes over the fine control of the stabilized camera.
The Mimic Control:
Over the controller, which works up to a distance of 50 meters, the camera and the gimbal can be controlled and adjusted by means of the mini joystick. The Thumb Controller costs about 240 Euro.
The MOZA AirCross uses a universal Quick Release System and can be easily and quickly attached to a matching Manfrotto 501OL or Arca quick-release plate. The operating current comes from three 26350 rechargeable batteries (with a total of 2,000 mAh) and lasts for 12 hours. Via the 12.6V DC IN port on the handle, an additional battery attached to the frame can also be used to charge the gimbal during operation. The MOZA AirCross is available immediately and costs around 480 euros.
