Meike today announced a new 35mm analogue lens with an extremely fast F0.95 starting aperture. Its image circle is calculated for typical S35/APS-C sensors and it will be offered for six different mirrorless camera lines. The angle of view is 44.2 degrees when used with an APS-C camera and 34 degrees when used with a Micro-Four-Thirds mount. On an S35mm/APS-C camera, this is roughly equivalent to the typical 50mm look of a "Nifty Fifty" lens on a full-frame camera.

The lens has seven lens groups and the 13-blade aperture is said to provide a nice, smooth, round bokeh. The aperture range of the lens is between F0.95 and F16. The lens has a 52 mm front filter thread and a minimum focusing distance of about 40 cm. The total weight of the lens is relatively light at 380 grams.

The Meike 35mm F.95 Large Aperture APS-C lens is a purely manual lens and offers no digital metadata communication or automatic camera settings. Lenses without autofocus are also "tolerated" by Canon and other manufacturers, which is why Meike continues to offer the new lens the following mounts: Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon EF-M, Nikon Z, Canon RF and Micro Four Thirds.

At a price of around 260 euros, the lens can now be ordered directly from Meike in the Onilnesup. Soon, however, it should also reach Germany via other distribution channels. And even if this price can be classified as relatively low: if you can do without the last f-stop, Maike has had an even more affordable 35mm/F1.4 on offer for just under 100 euros for quite some time. Of course, the image quality remains the decisive question, which at such prices will attract a lot of early adopters for YouTube impressions. We can therefore expect numerous sample videos in the near future.
