Shooting recently began on a Formula One film starring Brad Pitt - directed and shot by Joe Kosinski and Claudio Miranda. The duo had also recently filmed Top Gun: Maverick together, using Sony Venice cameras. Two behind-the-scenes photos posted on Reddit (www.reddit.com/r/cinematography/comments/14w0vtt/what_cameras_are_they_using_to_shoot_untitled/), which are said to be from the current shoot - which has since been interrupted again due to the actors' strike - now show a small camera with Voigtlander optics in a Panavision car rig.
Since the Venice 2 has a
removable sensor block with the Rialto system, the first assumption is of course that Miranda is simply extending its remote capabilities here. A thick cable block actually leads out of the small camera body as well. However: The sensor block of the Venice 2 Rialto definitely looks different.

Venice 2
Since one of the two photos shows a small S (as in Sony) on the corner of the camera,
some assume that it could be the Sony PTZ camera FR7, which is equipped with a full-frame sensor and interchangeable mount and, like the Venice, is part of the Cinema Line. Perhaps, So YMcinema, it could even be a prototype of a yet to be unveiled 6K capable successor camera to the FR7?

Sony FR7
Maybe - but the FR7 also looks a bit different from the one shown in the photos, and is also marked with an Alpha logo, not a Sony-S. (And why is the S only visible on the one photo at all - it should also appear on the second photo, which shows a slightly different perspective. Photoshop...?)
Maybe the camera used is some kind of custom made by Sony to meet the special demands of a top DoP like Claudio Miranda, who will probably go back to the Venice for the normal shots. What do you think which camera this is?
