Blackmagic Design is expanding its HyperDeck line of recorders with the new HyperDeck Studio product subfamily, which consists of four new recorder models with optimized design, expanded codecs and support for more media types, intended for broadcast, live production and digital signage applications. The new Blackmagic HyperDeck Studio Recorders For ISO recording of separate feeds, there are built-in timecode and clock generators that synchronize multiple connected recorders. Each HyperDeck Studio recorder has dedicated outputs for the reference signals and timecode created by its internal clock and timecode generators. The four HyperDeck Studio models.- The HyperDeck Studio HD Mini is based on 3D-SDI. It is suitable for recording and playback of H.264, ProRes or DNxHD files to or from SD, UHS-II cards and external USB drives in SD and HD formats up to 1080p/60 and has both 3G-SDI inputs and outputs and HDMI access. - The larger HyperDeck Studio HD Plus also features better transport controls and a front panel speaker and headphone jack. Other features include 6G-SDI for outputting fill and key signals, SDI monitoring, and recording H.264 up to 1080p/60 or ProRes and DNxHD up to 2160p/30. - The full rack-width HyperDeck Studio HDPro is designed like the HD Plus model, but adds two SSD bays, a metal seeker with coupler, SDI monitor output, and XLR timecode connectors - The HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro can record and playback H.264, H.265, ProRes and DNx in SD, HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p/60. InterfaceHyperDeck Studio recorders are equipped with classic transport controls such as a seek slider for jogging, shuttling and scrolling. The LC display is used for monitoring video, among other things, and displays technically accurate audio level meters as either VU or PPM meters. Recording. All HyperDeck models record to commonly used SD and UHS-II cards, meaning no expensive proprietary media is required. Two SSD bays are also built into the Pro models, giving users the choice of two types of media. In addition, it is also possible to record to external USB drives. When H.265 is used as the recording codec, a 1 TB card holds up to 58 hours of Ultra HD footage recorded at 2160p/60 and up to 157 hours of H.264 footage at 1080p/59.94. HyperDeck Studio HD Plus For uninterrupted recording, all HyperDeck Studios are equipped with dual media bays. When one media is full, recording automatically continues on the next. HyperDeck recorders support current formats such as DNx and ProRes, as well as H.264 at all quality levels up to 10-bit with 4:2:2 color subsampling when recording in NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080p and true 1080i field formats. The 4K model also supports H.265 for Ultra HD recording. This allows users to work with compression ratios from 60:1 to 285:1. Users can also choose uncompressed PCM audio or AAC audio for file upload to YouTube. All models support both ExFAT and HFS+ file systems and long-term recording to a file. The Plus and Pro models also support ProRes 4444, allowing output of fill and key signals during playback. Interfaces.Model by model, HyperDeck Studio recorders support a wide range of video and audio connections with 3D-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI. An HDMI port for a TV or projector is available on all models. The Pro and Plus models also offer a dedicated SDI monitor output, which also provides status information for monitoring. Furthermore, two SDI outputs are built into the Pro and Plus models. Users can play back ProRes 4444 and simultaneously output fill and key signals for keying to live production mixers. The 4K model equipped with 10G Ethernet enables file copy operations within a network at very high speeds. HyperDeck Studio HD Plus Multirate SDI gives users support for the most common video standards. SD formats include NTSC and PAL. HD standards in 720p include 720p/50 and 720p/59.94 fps. HD 1080i field formats include 1080i/50 and 1080i/59.94i. HD formats in 1080p include 1080p/23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60 fps. HyperDeck recorders even support 1080 psf formats. The 4K model supports 2K and 4K DCI rates up to 30 fps in addition to Ultra HD formats up to 2160p/60. The HyperDeck Studio recorders can be used like a webcam via their USB port and are compatible with corresponding programs such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Open Broadcaster, XSplit Broadcaster and more. HyperDeck Studio HD Plus With support for advanced HDR standards, users are always prepared for upcoming new feature film workflows. When recording, the SDI and HDMI inputs detect the HDR video standard and tag files with the correct HDR information. Static metadata in PQ and HLG formats is processed according to the ST2084 standard. HyperDeck Studio Plus and Pro models also allow users to upload a 3D LUT to the monitoring output. HyperDeck Studio models also enable multi-channel SDI audio for recording up to 16 channels. The status overlay layout for the monitoring view provides space for audio level meters for all user-enabled channels. Level meters for 2, 4, 8 or 16 channels can be displayed simultaneously.
