DJI is already planning its next new release - according to rumors, as early as October 30th or, at the latest, during the first week of November. Following the launch of the selfie drone Neo and the Air 3S, a new affordable version of DJI’s Goggles is expected to be released. The new Goggles N3, priced at only 269 euros, will be DJI’s cheapest FPV headset to date, aimed at encouraging even more users to fly drones from an immersive first-person perspective. The ready-to-fly FPV package consisting of the DJI Neo drone, Motion Stick Controller, and N3 Goggles will cost only 529 euros, making it the most affordable FPV solution in DJI’s lineup.
DJI Goggles N3
Thanks to well-known DJI leakers Jasper Ellens and Igor Bogdanov, we already know more about the Goggles N3: they are the first DJI FPV headset to use the latest (OcuSync) O4 transmission system, which offers several advantages over previous versions, such as improved range, image quality, latency, and interference resistance. In the case of the Goggles N3, latency is expected to be only 31 ms, with a range of up to 13 km and a video bitrate of 60 Mbps (for comparison, the Integra Goggles can only transmit at 50 Mbps). The O4 system allows the Goggles N3 to also work with other DJI drones like the new DJI Air 3S, DJI Air 3, and DJI Mini 4 Pro.
DJI Goggles N3 vs Goggles 3
Together with the RC Motion R3 Controller, an FPV drone like the DJI Neo or Avata 2 can be intuitively controlled with wrist movements or - if head tracking is activated - by head movements. But where did DJI cut costs to offer the Goggles N3 at such a reduced price compared to previous versions, which have so far cost at least 459 euros (Goggles Integra)? The answer lies in the display, which in the Goggles N3 now consists of a single ultra-wide 1080p screen with a 60 Hz refresh rate, instead of two 1080p Micro-OLED displays with 100 Hz.

How much the reduced resolution will affect perceived image quality remains to be seen in the first tests. A single battery charge should last for 2.7 hours, which corresponds to 13 flights with the Neo. Via a microSD card, the Goggles N3 can also be used as a pure viewing device for panoramic videos.
