DJI has introduced the new Transmission SDR video transmission system, which uses both Wi-Fi and SDR for transmission, achieving a much greater range. Compared to the DJI Transmission released two years ago, it is significantly cheaper, with the transmitter and receiver bundle costing only 599 euros instead of 2,299 euros. DJI SDR Transmission The new DJI SDR Transmission is aimed at small film crews and offers 1080p/60fps video transmission with a 20 Mbit/s bitrate and 80 milliseconds latency for monitoring shoots. SDR transmission can reach distances of up to 2 km (according to the European CE standard), and the system automatically switches channels between the 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and DFS frequency bands to find the optimal channel in case of interference. Metadata is also conveniently transmitted. To enable the entire film crew to monitor live images, the DJI SDR Transmission system supports simultaneous transmission of three SDR signals and two Wi-Fi signals. In broadcast mode, the device can even be connected to an unlimited number of receivers. The receiver can output the live image via SDI or HDMI to monitors and via USB-C to smartphones and tablets. The transmitter can also connect directly to smartphones or tablets via Wi-Fi, offering simple and cost-effective video monitoring without the need for a receiver. Remote Control and MonitoringWhen used with DJI Gimbals of the RS series, DJI SDR Transmission enables functions like Force Mobile, virtual joystick, and gimbal reorientation. When paired with a camera, it supports PTP control, allowing the display and adjustment of aperture, shutter, ISO value, and even triggering photo and video recording functions of the camera through the app. It also supports Sony cameras& CEC control to bring the mirror control mode into play. DJI SDR Transmission Monitoring App When connected to the updated DJI Ronin App in broadcast mode, users can seamlessly switch between camera sources within the app. The app also supports local recordings, which can be viewed on the playback side of the app. Additionally, it offers classic monitoring tools like LUT, peaking, waveform, and false color. InterfacesThe DJI SDR Transmission transmitter has an SDI and an HDMI input for camera connection, a 3.5 mm stereo jack, a USB-C port for firmware updates, and a USB-C port for power and communication with the Ronin Gimbal. The receiver has an SDI, HDMI, and USB-C output for monitoring, a 3.5 mm stereo jack, and a USB-C port for power. Both devices of the DJI SDR Transmission system weigh only 145g each and can be powered via USB-C with a PD protocol charger, or directly from the DJI RS 3 and 4 (Pro) gimbals when used together.
