Dell has unveiled new monitors - star is probably the new 40" curved UltraSharp U4021QW with a WUHD resolution in 21:9 format of 5,120 x 2,160 pixels. It has a very good color space coverage of 100% of the sRGB and 98% of the DCI-P3 color space, which together with the large resolution qualifies it for professional work. Its functionality as a KVM switch and Thunderbolt 3 hub is also practical, adding an Ethernet port as well as several USB ports to a notebook via the monitor, for example.

The brightness of the 39.7-inch 10-bit IPS panel is very average at 300 nits, however, and does not allow for any adequate display of HDR content. The viewing angle of 178° (h/v) is also standard, as is the contrast of 1,000:1. In sRGB mode, the color deviation Delta-E is supposed to be < 2.
The curvature of the UltraSharp U4021QW is relatively weak with a radius of 2,500mm. Its interfaces include two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 as well as a Thunderbolt 3 port, via which a connected notebook can be supplied with up to 90W of charging current and via which data can also be transferred at a speed of up to 40 Gbps.
In addition, the U4021QW has four USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type A ports with 10 Gbps as well as a USB-C port with up to 15W charging current and an Ethernet port which are supplied with data from a computer via Thunderbolt 3 port.

In addition, the Dell has a KVM switch with the help of which the UltraSharp U4021QW can be used with a mouse and keyboard on two computers, as well as a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) function with the help of which images from multiple sources can be displayed on the monitor simultaneously. For better ergonomics, the monitor can be adjusted 120 mm in height, tilted up to 5 degrees forward or up to 21 degrees backward, and rotated 30 degrees to the left or right.
The Dell UltraSharp U4021QW is supposed to be in stores from January 28, 2021, the US price is around ,100, the German price is not yet known.
