Panasonic has released firmware updates for the S5 II, S5 IIX, GH7, and G9 II, bringing numerous new features. All four cameras receive improved subject detection, the ability to display up to three focus markers, crop and hybrid zoom, support for the new MP4(Lite) video format, and compatibility with new features of the LUMIX Lab smartphone app, enabling remote shooting, shutter control, and image transfer via the app. Additionally, there&s new firmware for some lenses and a mini-update for the Panasonic S1/S1R models. Panasonic S5 II Firmware 3.2 and Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX Firmware 2.21. Enhanced Subject Detection -[AIRPLANE] and[TRAIN] have been added to the subject detection modes. - The[Target Parts] option has been added for the[AUTO][MOTORCYCLE] detection modes. 2. Function for Displaying Multiple Focus Markers - Up to 3 selected focus markers can be displayed simultaneously. The size and position of the focus markers can be adjusted to accommodate different aspect ratios or to plan shots with multiple compositions. 3. Crop Zoom Function Added - The Crop Zoom function extracts the central part of an image and enhances the zoom effect without loss of quality, i.e., it enables higher magnification without changing lenses. 4. Hybrid Zoom Function Added - The Hybrid Zoom offers improved usability by seamlessly combining optical and electronic zoom. 5. New Support for the "MP4(Lite)" Recording Format enables video recording in Open-Gate mode, which consumes less data without compromising resolution. - A new option for the lower bitrate "MP4(Lite)" video format can now be selected, recording at a resolution of 3.8K (3840x2560) with 29.97p and a data rate of 50Mbps. 6.[XS] Option for Image Size Added - It is now possible to select the smaller file size[XS] for images. 7. Compatibility with New Functions of the LUMIX Smartphone App "LUMIX Lab" (Version 1.3 or higher) - Remote shooting is now possible. - Remote shutter control is now possible. - The wireless IP streaming function is now available. - Transfer of images selected on the camera is now possible. 8. Changes to Functions Due to Security Improvements - When directly connecting the camera to a smartphone via Wi-Fi, the connection now always requires password authentication. (The[Wi-Fi Password] menu has been removed.) - The encryption method[TKIP] is no longer supported when connecting to Wi-Fi via an access point. - The[No Encryption] option in network authentication is no longer supported when connecting to Wi-Fi via an access point. - The wired LAN streaming function (RTP/RTSP) has been removed. - The image transfer function to a PC via Wi-Fi has been removed. (European models only) - The streaming function via RTMP has been removed. (European models only) 9. Other Improvements - Improved operational stability.
