New large monitors from AOC, Asus and Philips

[09:19 Wed,17.April 2019   by Thomas Richter]

In the last few days several manufacturers (AOC, Asus and Philips) have announced new large monitors with 32.34 and -35 inches. We present you the three new models shortly. In addition, Samsung has now announced the official price for the ultra-wide Curved 49 inch CRG9 with 95% DCI-P3 coverage, which is 1,700 Euros.

The AOC AG353UCG is a curved, ultra-wide 35" 21:9 monitor with an up to 1.00 nits bright 10-bit VA panel, a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 200 Hz and G-SYNC HDR. Its 512 local dimming zones provide a very good contrast ratio and good black levels, which allows it to support HDR according to the DisplayHDR 1000 standard and - unlike the smaller DisplayHDR seals - should be able to display such solid HDR.

Since it also supports the professional DCI-P3 100%, it is also interesting for video editing. At interfaces it offers a DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 as well as four USB 3.1 ports. The AOC AG353UCG is expected to be released between June and October 2019 at a price of 1.800 - 2.200 Euro.

The ASUS PG349Q uses a 34" AH-IPS panel with also a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels, but its remaining values are far below those of the AOC monitor: it only supports a color depth of 8-bit and has a brightness of only (slightly below average) 300 nits and supports the sRGB color space to 100%. The maximum refresh rate is 100 Hz. The interfaces: DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 as well as two USB 3.0 ports. Price and release date are not yet known, the previous model currently costs around 1.000 Euro.

Third in the group is the Philips 326M6VJRMB, a 31.5 inch monitor with UltraHD 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160). It uses a 10-bit (8-bit plus FRC) panel that covers 135% of the sRGB color space and 98.61% of the DCI-P3 color space. The brightness is up to 600 nits, the refresh rate 60 Hz. The Philips 326M6VJRMB complies with the DisplayHDR 600 standard and has Ambiglow ambient light. It has three HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 and four USB 3.0 ports and is expected to be released in the second quarter at a price of around 650 euros.
