With the LUMIX DC-G91, Panasonic has added a new MicroFourThirds mid-range model that has inherited some interesting functions from the GH5 and G9, among others.
The sensor is designed for high resolution photography with 20 megapixels without a low pass filter. However, it is to be expected that Panasonic will achieve a good 5K->4K downsampling for the video recordings. In addition, the sensor is movably mounted and, according to a presentation, its stabilization performance should be on a par with that of the GH5. The combination with a stabilized MFT optic (DUAL-IS) is also possible. Bluetooth and WiFi are also included and a USB charging function makes the camera less dependent on the power supply.

The Panasonic DC-G91
The housing is protected against dust and splash water and has a fold-out and tilting 7.5 cm OLED touch screen. An OLED viewfinder with 2.36 million pixels has been integrated. The key layout of the professional models has now also been partially adopted. Among other things, there are the typical three buttons for white balance, ISO and exposure compensation behind the shutter release. In addition, there are three freely assignable function keys.
Relevant to the video functions: The G91 can record in 4K at 24/25 or 30 fps and in FullHD at up to 120 fps with an SD card slot. However, the duration of video recording is now unlimited. In addition to a 3.5 mm microphone connection, there is now also an integrated headphone socket. And V-LogL is supplied as an image profile at no extra charge. Anyone who already scales GH5 air here might be too pleased early. Because internally can be recorded only with 8 bits 4:2:0. And externally there are also only 8 bits available, but at least with 4:2:2 resolution.
The LUMIX G91 will be available from June 2019 for 999 Euro (housing).
Panasonic is also presenting an improved version of its all-round optical talent: the latest version of the popular 10x superzoom lens LUMIX G VARIO 14-140 mm now offers protection against splash water and dust. The rest sounds familiar: With a KB-equivalent zoom range of 28-280 mm, it is quite universally applicable. The initial aperture goes from F3.5-5.6, while it remains compact and light: 7.5 x 6.7 cm at 265 g. A DUAL-IS compatible image stabilizer has also been re-integrated.
The new Lumix G lens will be available from June 2019. The recommended retail price is 699,- Euro.
According to an advance press presentation, there will also be two kits: First the G91 with the Lumix G Vario 14-140mm and once with the Lumix G Vario 12-60mm. However, prices for this have not yet been quoted.
