Another exciting announcement on the subject of video lenses was also made by Nikon today. The company announced the development of a power zoom NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ specially designed for video applications, which in the first images strongly resembles the corresponding Sony counterpart FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS (and in our opinion looks pretty smart, if it is finally launched on the market). The press release only states: ‘The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is a standard zoom lens with power zoom that covers the focal length range from 28 to 135mm. Designed for ease of use and superior optical performance in video recording, it supports efficient shooting for documentaries and filming by small teams or individuals.’ In addition to the optical performance, we are particularly curious about the handling of the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ and whether it will also feature optical stabilisation (which is usually not activated with a switch on the lens in VR Nikkor lenses).
