RED has been part of Nikon since April - the takeover and its possible effects have already been discussed many times, but it remains exciting. Nikon recently announced that it would incorporate camera technology from RED into its own camera division, and RED has now announced that the prices of its KOMODO-X and KOMODO S35 cine cameras will be reduced by up to 30%. The move appears to be the work of RED&s new CEO Keiji Oishi, who has taken over for Jarred Land from Nikon&s Imaging Business Unit - he is quoted as saying: "RED&s KOMODO lineup has only grown in popularity over the years,” said RED Digital Cinema CEO Keiji Oishi. “Since joining RED, I have heard filmmakers rave about KOMODO’s small form factor and the amazing performance of the global shutter sensor. We’re excited to introduce this new pricing which lowers the hurdle for a new group of filmmakers to take advantage of the exceptional cinema quality and creative possibilities of RED cameras." This sounds very much like a strategic market decision, although of course it cannot be completely ruled out that an updated Komodo could be released in the foreseeable future. However, the somewhat more professionally equipped KOMODO-X only came onto the market last year, while the first Komodo has been available since 2021. The Komodo is the most compact and also the most affordable RAW-capable cine camera in the RED lineup and offers 6K recording and a global shutter (see here our RED Komodo practical test) The new prices communicated are 6,995 dollars for the KOMODO-X and 4,995 dollars for the KOMODO. However, other RED camera lines such as V-RAPTOR (XL) will continue to be offered at unchanged prices. more infos at bei www.red.com deutsche Version dieser Seite: Nikon senkt RED-Preise - Komodo (X) wird günstiger |
