Nikon is releasing four free creative LUTs and one technical LUT for N-Log grading - they were developed by RED and are intended to create a look that is comparable to shots from RED cinema cameras. A pretty clever move to quickly and easily benefit from the (purchased) RED Color Science and thus make N-Log-capable mirrorless cameras such as the Nikon Z 8 or Z 9 more attractive to the cine community in one fell swoop. In our experience, N-Raw (with log) has been quite challenging to grade so far. For example, the Film Bias LUT is designed to give N-Log shots a warm, film-like aesthetic with balanced colors and natural skin tones, while subtle contrast should make the shots look particularly differentiated. Achromic LUT, on the other hand, creates a low-contrast monochrome effect while preserving texture details. According to Nikon, the Film Bias Bleach Bypass LUT creates a high-contrast, desaturated look, which corresponds to the look created by bleach omission in classic film material. The images appear grainy and faded. As the fourth creative LUT in the bundle, the Film Bias Offset LUT offers a vintage film-like warmth and softness. This LUT optimizes shots through a special combination of colour correction and contrast adjustment. With another new technical LUT, N-Log images can be easily converted to the Rec 709 color space. Based on RED&s know-how and optimized for Nikon Z, the LUT is designed to achieve improved color fidelity, saturation and contrast to provide a neutral starting point for color grading. The new LUT files are now available for download and can of course also be used for external monitors in order to obtain a preview directly on location that practically corresponds to the final result. RED Digital Cinema has been a subsidiary of Nikon since April - just six weeks ago the Japanese company announced that it would be incorporating RED video technology into its DSLMs for improved video performance. The new LUTs represent a first step in this direction. more infos at bei www.nikon.de deutsche Version dieser Seite: Nikon stellt kostenlose RED-LUTs für N-Log zur Verfügung |
