Nikon&s completes its bright f/1.2 prime lens "S-Line" trio with the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S, priced at €3,249.00 ![]()
Weighing 1060 g and measuring 90 x 150 mm, the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S is quite substantial and will likely feel most at home on larger camera bodies. The optical construction of the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S comprises 17 elements in 15 groups. Special ED and SR glass lenses are designed to counteract light scattering and prevent chromatic aberration, distortion, and other imaging errors. Various coatings are also included. The filter diameter is 82mm, and the minimum focusing distance is 30cm. Video users will appreciate the linear focus function activated via the focus ring. Nikon also mentions "suppressed focus breathing," which should benefit videographers. Personally, we are big fans of fast 35mm lenses, often using them for interviews where a shallow depth of field is desired. Typically, one finds f/1.4 35mm lenses – but an f/1.2 is a remarkable achievement (we only know of the Sigma Art DG DN, which, however, is not available for Nikon&s Z-mount). ![]() Here are the official key specifications of the new Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S – quoting Nikon: "Classic 35mm focal length, first-class rendering: Phenomenal resolution for detailed, accurate reproduction at every setting. Exceptional sharpness and contrast across the entire image field. Extremely high aperture of 1:1.2: For outstanding creative control in any light. Even with close-ups, the finest details are sharply rendered against a round, softly graduated bokeh. Beautiful bokeh: The 11-blade diaphragm and advanced optical design ensure a consistently beautiful, soft bokeh without chromatic aberration – even with point light sources. High-precision S-Line optics: The optical construction consists of 17 elements in 15 groups. Special ED and SR glass lenses counteract light scattering and prevent chromatic aberration, distortion, and imaging errors. Exceptional clarity: Nikon&s most advanced coatings, the meso-amorphous coating, ARNEO coating, and Nano Crystal Coat, virtually eliminate stray light and ghosting even in challenging backlit situations. Popular with cinematographers: The classic 35mm focal length combined with the 1:1.2 aperture enables storytelling with fluid precision. Focus breathing is suppressed. Linear focusing can be activated for controlled manual focusing via the focus ring. Fast, razor-sharp autofocus: The Multi-Focusing System offers impressive precision and speed, even at extremely shallow depths of field. Dual stepping motors ensure fast, continuous adjustments to keep the focus point sharp. Effortless operation: Two function buttons (Fn) are perfectly positioned for both portrait and landscape shooting. The large, knurled focus ring is smooth to operate, and the control ring is fully customizable. Robust: The solid housing is comprehensively sealed at the connections and buttons. A rubber seal prevents dust, dirt, or moisture from entering the bayonet mount.1 Suitable for 82mm filters: The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S is suitable for the same wide range of 82mm screw-in filters as the 50mm and 85mm f/1.2 S-Line lenses. Part of the f/1.2 S-Line trio: Depth of field, color fidelity, color tone, bokeh – the image characteristics remain consistent across the 50mm, 85mm, and 35mm focal lengths of the NIKKOR Z f/1.2 S-Line lenses." Premium performance, however, comes at a premium price. With an RRP of €3,249.00, the new Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S positions itself quite confidently. However, the Nikkor Z portfolio now offers a wide selection of 35mm prime lenses. The Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 (RRP €659) and the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S (RRP €869) are significantly more affordable alternatives... Price and Availability The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S is expected to be available in stores from the end of February 2025 at a recommended retail price of €3,249.00. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Nikon stellt lichtstarkes Pro-Objektiv NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S für 3.249,- Euro vor |
