We already reported about the new Open Source VideoEditor named Olive at the end of December 2018. After the February update had failed, we already had doubts whether the initial development zeal should have abated a bit. But now there is a new Alpha March version for Linux, Mac and PC.
What remains unique is that you can even use the program under Windows as a portable version, i.e. without installation. Thanks to QT-GUI, the interface is the same under all operating systems and allows a free positioning of the numerous windows. Even a full screen preview on a second monitor is possible. (Small tip on the side: When using a single monitor, you can get out of the full screen preview with F11).
We already liked the speed of the program quite well and also the stability was remarkable in so far as a short test of the new alpha version ran completely without crashes. If you want to try it out for yourself, you'll find your way around quickly. The effects can be found in the effects window at the top left after selecting the corresponding clip in the timeline. If you like it and want to support the development directly, you can do this directly via Patreon.
